The Wines of Clos Mirages

Clos Mirages is originally a powerful, full-bodied, spicy Mourvèdre rosé with a rose gold hue.

In 2024, we produced our first white wine, 100% Rolle, which offers a subtle balance between freshness and richness.

The red wine, patiently aged in wooden vats since 2022, is now available for sale. This powerful red, which should be decanted, pairs beautifully with red meats and dishes with rich sauces.

The Red
Clos Mirages

The red wine, patiently crafted in wooden vats since 2022, is also available for sale this year.

This powerful red wine, which should be decanted, will be a worthy accompaniment to red meats and dishes with sauce.

It perfectly symbolizes the authentic reds of Provence.

The White
Clos Mirages

CLOS MIRAGES produced in 2024,
1300 bottles of white wine,
100% Rolle (or Vermentino).

The method is identical to that of Rosé, supplemented by a long maceration in the press.

Thanks to a subtle balance between freshness and richness, avoiding excessive acidity, these whites look more towards Burgundy.

Mastering the Vine

an exceptional climate and terroir.

The estate consists of 17 terraces, facing due south, over a 35m elevation change.

Each plot has been named.

The size of the plots varies from 30 ares

up to a maximum of 1 hectare.

The Mediterranean sun promotes the concentration of sugars in grapes, while the presence of water

at shallow depths in the Domain

limits water stress.

The wind coming from the sea, moderate in summer, also cools the vines.

In winter, the forest surrounding Clos Mirages slows down the Mistral wind and prevents frost.

This dry and windy climate, with a slight salinity, also prevents most humidity-related diseases.

Water is just below the surface: some plots have even been drained! There is no irrigation to encourage the concentration of flavors. The soil is composed of sand, schist, and quartz with some traces of clay.

The grape varieties used at Clos Mirages all comply with the Côtes de Provence Protected Designation of Origin:

Mourvèdre

A grape variety that requires a lot of sunshine to ripen and is usually used to produce red wines.

This grape variety imparts aromas of spices and red fruits to the wine. It is this grape variety that gives our Rosé its unique character.

Grenache

One of the most widely used grape varieties in Provence and one of the easiest to grow.

It imparts flavours of red fruits, raspberries and strawberries.

Rolle

Low in acidity, yet dry, this grape variety brings notes of fresh apple, green almond, sweet spices, hawthorn, ripe pear and fresh pineapple.

Semillon / Carignan / Cinsault / Syrah

Planted between 2022 and 2024, these vines will reveal their potential in a few years' time.

Apart from the young plants, our vines are between 40 and 60 years old

and their limited production is compensated by the quality of their juice.

Clos Mirages has been certified organic for five years and is implementing

initiatives to protect nature and keep the soil alive:

• Sowing between rows

• No deep ploughing

• Creation of a small pond to promote biodiversity

• Use of animal traction for ridging

• Rainwater management and recovery through a network of ditches and swales

• UV Boosting

Mastering wine

As with grape cultivation, the winemaking process is certified organic, with a few added extras:

  • The harvest is manual and selective: it takes place at dawn with our teams

  • processed immediately on site, the grapes are sent to the press or vats by gravity.

  • Stainless steel, concrete or wooden tanks allow the wines to express their personality.

  • The yeasts and other ingredients are all natural and certified organic.

  • The blending is done under the direction of our oenologist with the sensitivity of the owning family.

  • The rosé wines are bottled as orders are received.

  • The red wines spend at least one year in barrels.

  • We favour selling through short supply chains (individuals, wine merchants and restaurants in the region).
